Prodigal Daughters
Story Premise: With parents on the brink of divorce, tight-knit sisters Sage and Noelle have three days left before they are split up and their idyllic life in the Appalachian countryside of Maine draws to a close. What begins as a simple hide and seek game quickly veers into unknown territory as Sage emerges from her hiding spot only to discover that it won't be as easy to get home as she thought.
About: This game is a project for Game Development 115. The assignment consisted of creating a top-down 2D game in the JRPG style within 9 weeks using GB Studio. Unfortunately I ran out of time to complete the full game, but Part 1 is completely playable with a *mysterious* cliffhanger.
My favorite aspect in the creation of Prodigal Daughters was designing the narrative and writing dialogue, but I also had a blast making pixel art and doing level design. Besides using some example character sprites (courtesy of Chris Maltby), I also created all of the artwork.
I hope to one day complete Prodigal Daughters for a full, unified narrative experience!
